There’s a lot of history out there! So we think it should be part of your perfect holiday. Combine with simpler pleasures like walks and wanders, shopping for souvenirs, drinks and meals. Here’s a brief guide to some soaking up culture holiday hotspots.

Follow the coastal broadwalk from Paphos Harbour and you’ll come to Paphos Castle. Soak up the culture and the views. Lovely in the evenings when the day’s heat has subsided. Balmy!
Along the way there is the entrance to the Archaeological Park. This is a daytime visit and houses impressive Roman remains with beautifully restored Roman villas complete with mosaics.
At the north end of the site is the Tomb of the Kings. By car there is a separate entrance, though you can walk 30 minutes along the coastal broadwalk to get here. Read more..
And if all that’s not enough Pafos is sharing European Capital of Culture in 2017. So there’s plenty of extra stuff going on or check out the programme on the website. Read more…
For those looking for picturesque mountaintop villages then Kathikas is a good place to start. It’s only 20 minutes’ drive from Coral Bay so not too far. It’s a traditional Cypriot village high up in the Kathikas wine growing region. Moreover, it has a donkey sanctuary and Easter reenactment of the Passion of Christ.
Another mountaintop village high in a winemaking region is the lovely Omodos. Free wine sampling should make the visit interesting with wineries, a pretty monastery, cobbled streets and to-die-for views. This is warmly recommended by the CVR team. Great for an evening at or after sundown. It is a good hour’s drive from Coral Bay however.
