Discover Pernera

Welcome to Pernera

Pernera is the calm northern end of Protaras: three sandy coves, a small fishing harbour, and streets of pool villas where most of our east coast guests stay. Supermarkets, bakeries and harbour tavernas are all walkable, the main resort is ten minutes away, and 52 of our villas are here, the largest choice anywhere in our collection. It is the practical, quietly excellent base for a family villa holiday.

Pernera: Protaras Without the Volume

Pernera is the northern end of the Protaras coastline, and it is where the resort quietly does its best work. There is no strip here. Instead you get a low rise neighbourhood of villas and small hotels arranged around three sandy coves, a working fishing harbour at Ayia Triada, and a coastal path that carries you south to Fig Tree Bay in around half an hour on foot. It is also the centre of gravity of our collection: 52 of our 76 villas in Protaras are here, more than anywhere else on the island.

The Beaches

Pernera's coves are small, sheltered and sandy, with water shallow enough that parents can stand while toddlers paddle. Pernera Beach itself and neighbouring Kalamies, beside the harbour chapel, both have sunbeds and tavernas within a few steps, while the third cove stays quieter still outside August. None of them ever feels like a stadium, which is exactly the appeal. When you want the bigger, busier sweep of sand, Fig Tree Bay is a short drive or a flat seafront walk away; our Protaras beaches guide maps the whole run of coastline cove by cove.

Who Pernera Suits

Families first: the combination of enclosed villa gardens, walkable supermarkets and calm swimming is hard to beat anywhere in Cyprus. It is equally good for longer stays and shoulder season trips, when you want a real neighbourhood around you rather than a seasonal strip. Couples who prefer harbour tavernas to cocktail bars settle in quickly here too. If you want nightlife within stumbling distance, look at Fig Tree Bay instead, or across at Ayia Napa, twenty minutes away.

Day to Day Essentials

Everything practical is close. Pernera has its own supermarkets, bakeries, pharmacies and fruit stalls, so a villa here runs itself without a car, and the coastal bus route stops along the main road for trips to Fig Tree Bay, Konnos Bay and Ayia Napa. Eating out is a strength: the fish tavernas around Ayia Triada harbour serve what the boats landed, and several of our picks in the best restaurants in Protaras guide are within walking distance of the harbour.
