Peyia, also spelled Pegeia, is the hillside town that looks down over Coral Bay, 35 minutes from Paphos Airport. It pairs a proper Cypriot town with the best beaches in the Paphos region at the bottom of the hill, which is why so many of our guests book the same villa in Peyia year after year.
Village Centre or Sea-View Hills?
The first choice to make in Peyia is altitude. Villas in Peyia village put you among the tavernas and the old square, with local prices and a town that carries on living through winter. The upper streets look over the whole sweep of coast from Coral Bay to Cape Drepanum. Villas on the lower slopes and around the coast road trade some of that local character for bigger plots, sea views from the pool terrace and a short hop down to the sand. Couples and longer stays tend to pick the village end; families on a beach-every-day plan usually go low.
Coral Bay at the Bottom of the Hill
Coral Bay is Peyia's beach. Corallia beach, also known as Laourou, waits in the next cove along when you want the same sand with fewer sunbeds.
Sea Caves, Peyia's Exclusive Corner
Between Coral Bay and the fishing harbour at Agios Georgios the shoreline turns into low white cliffs and sea caves, and the plots behind it hold some of the most expensive addresses in Cyprus. Our Sea Caves villas are Peyia's luxury row: large modern builds with infinity pools, cliff-top gardens and open-sea sunsets, minutes from the beach but far from the noise. Large Villas in Peyia for Big Groups
Peyia is the best-stocked corner of Paphos for group holidays. 14 of our 40 villas here have five or more bedrooms, rising to eight-bedroom estates, and the largest, Villa Captains in Coral Bay, sleeps 28. With 25 heated pools across the area, big family gatherings work here from March through November, not just in high summer.
Beaches, Tavernas and the Akamas
Evenings belong to the village square, where the tavernas serve kleftiko and halloumi grilled the way it should be, and St George's Church and the old Peyia fountain anchor the town's history. Beyond the town, Peyia is the gateway to the Akamas Peninsula: hike Avakas Gorge between rock walls 30 metres high, or drive the coastal track to Lara Bay, the protected turtle-nesting beach. Both are under half an hour from any of our villas. Kato Paphos, with its harbour, mosaics and the Tombs of the Kings, is 20 minutes down the coast, and the Aphrodite Waterpark covers the kids' big day out.
Getting to Peyia
Paphos Airport is around 30km away, a 35 minute drive. We recommend hiring a car: buses do run to Coral Bay and Paphos, but they crawl in peak season, and the best of Peyia, the gorge, the harbour and the quieter beaches, needs wheels. Once you are in, everything that matters sits within ten minutes of your villa: beach, tavernas, supermarkets and the Akamas on your doorstep.
